"Just security reasons. Don't want to repeat the past mistake in case the same thing happens."

As the store worker opened the door, he quickly signaled Xiaoyun to go inside before closing the door.

"What's that attitude for?"

Xiaoyun wondered as the door almost slammed right into his face, with zero respect shown towards him.

"Governor, Chief Scientific Officer is waiting at her office."

A lady wearing a lab coat and a face mask was standing right behind him, her oddly blond hair making it clear she was a foreigner.

Yet her accent was surprisingly fine, indistinguishable from the local, as if she were born and raised here.

"Chief scientific officer? When did Tianci start calling herself that?" Xiaoyun curiously asked as he began following her.

"Just a few days ago. She decided to make everything more formalized and separate the laboratory into different groups."

Xiaoyun didn't question it as he had zero clue about running a biology lab. The best he could do was to let her take care of everything.

"This place is a lot bigger than it was when I came here last time... How did you guys renovate everything in a few weeks?"

Xiaoyun commented as he checked his surroundings, only to find workers wearing lab suits either sitting in front of a computer or in the middle of an experiment.

"The renovation was finished with workers on the night shift... Here's Miss Tianci's office. I'll be leaving now."

As the lab worker speed-walked into the distance, Xiaoyun got a little confused as he could notice her face blushing when running away.

"Hey Tianci, what's up with everyone's attitude in this lab?"

"Everyone is grumpy because they need to work overtime today. Anyway, can you take off your pants?"

"Take off my pants? What?"

Seeing Xiaoyun standing still, Tianci's face flushed for a second before she quickly got up from her seat to close the door behind him.

"I said, can you take off your pants? I need your... sperm for an experiment."

"Oh, that. You aren't going to use it on IVF for someone else, right?" Xiaoyun questioned as he looked a little hesitant.

"Of course not. Just take off your pants and let me get some samples." Tianci asked, her face started to get a little impatient.

"Take as much as you need."

Tianci shyly looked away as she went back to her drawer, taking out a small cup and a rubber band before tying her hair up into a ponytail.

After gathering a bunch of white samples in the cup, Tianci slowly got up from the floor as she wiped off the remaining from her lips.

"Thank you."

"No problem... Ahem, what kind of experiment are you using these for?" Xiaoyun curiously asked as he zipped up his pants.

"We started testing on the liquid sample you brought in by putting different kinds of human blood into it.

They were all absorbed into the liquid sample, even when the ratio is 1ml to 100ml. It remained dangerous with no signs of changing property.

So I decided to test the sample liquid by dropping a few drops of your blood... And guess what happened to it?"

"What? Did it absorb it like the rest?"

"Nope. It stayed out. Not a single drop was absorbed until a week later... It was almost as if we put cooking oil into a pot of water."

"Huh. So what does it have to do with needing my... sperm?" Xiaoyun questioned.

"Well, before all this, we also tested with every biomatter we could come across. Every time we put it in, it just gets absorbed.

Even some of the metal pieces were absorbed with no traces of them remaining. It's like a black hole that just sucks in everything."

"That doesn't sound safe... But that still doesn't explain what you're planning to do with my stuff."

"I was about to get there. So we were thinking, since it absorbed everything other than things that belong to you, we thought we should test it with your... stuff."

"You're putting this into that red liquid?"

"Yeah."

"Okay then... I'm not going to question it. Just tell me whatever the result is when it comes out."

"You can actually come with me to see it live right now."

Xiaoyun thought about it for a second before agreeing as he followed her out of the office and into the hallway.

Soon, the two of them found themsleve in a room filled with four other scientists wearing the same lab coats as Tianci.

"Tianci, you got the samples?"

"Yep. Over here."

As Tianci handed the cup filled with white liquid over, none of the scientists seemed to be disgusted by it as they put it onto a tray connected to the wall.

"Lab Experiment 103, pouring in test subject #0's semen into the sample liquid."

One of the older scientists said out loud as the blond scientist who brought Xiaoyun in earlier started recording everything he said into the notebook.

Both Xiaoyun and Tianci watched as the third scientist pressed a button to reveal a whole separate room on the other side, covered by glass.

Right before them was the sample liquid, with its red color and a hint of fog trapped inside the specially-made quartz glass container.

As the fourth scientist pressed the second button, the lid was removed by a glass tong attached to a mechanical arm.

Within seconds, red fog immediately started expanding, rapidly filling up the room as the same mechanical arm reappeared with the small cup in its glass tongs.

Everyone in the room held their breath as they watched the white liquid land right on top of the sample liquid.

"Test subject #0 semen did not get absorbed. It has the same isolating effect as his blood samples."

The mechanical arm didn't even need to put the lid back on as the white liquid formed a layer on top, causing the red fog to vanish as fast as it had first appeared.

"Chen Mei, put the lid back on."

As the fourth scientist quickly pressed the button to have the lid put back on, Xiaoyun could feel everyone in the room looking a little excited.

"Is this test a success or a failure?" Xiaoyun curiously asked.

"It's a success so far. We need further study to make sure we can determine what kind of property this sample liquid has."

The senior-looking scientist answered as the blond scientist continued to record the whole conversation between them.

"Lee, that's enough. You don't have to record the conversation between me and the governor."

The blond scientist finally stopped as Xiaoyun looked a little surprised to see the senior scientist recognize him.

"How do you know I'm the Governor?"

"Who else would have our Chief Scientific Officer bring an unannounced guest to one of the experiments?"

"Got me there."

"Anyway, nice to meet you, Governor. My name is Liang Mei. I'm the Principal Investigator, or the lead scientist on this project."

"Nice to meet you, too. My name is Xiaoyun."

As the two shook hands, Xiaoyun realized the person in front of him wasn't a man. It was just a woman with very short hair and an almost completely invisible chest.

"Ahem."

Tianci's cough quickly snapped Xiaoyun out of his thoughts as he let Liang Mei's hand go free.

"This is Lee, the scribe and an Undergrad, and this is Ma Lin, the Lab Assistant, who is a PhD student... And this is Chen Mei, the Lab Technician."

As Liang Mei introduced them one by one, Xiaoyun's mind once again realized their appearance had tricked him.

They just all happened to have short hair and looked a little masculine, but their voice told him the complete opposite.

"Nice to meet you all... Ahem, Tianci, if you don't need me anymore, I'm going to head back home now."

"Go for it... Actually, can you come with me to my office again? I need to show you something."

"Sure."

With Xiaoyun and Tianci quickly exiting the room, the four of them looked back at each other for a second before turning their attention back to the experiment.

"What do you all think of the Governor?" Liang Mei curiously asked as they headed towards the

"Looks like a nice guy." Chen Mei murmured as she opened the glass panel to take back the cup.

"A lot shorter than I had imagined... I thought he would be a lot taller." Ma Lin commented as she turned off the mechanical arms.

"What do you think of the Governor, Lee?" Liang Mei asked again, noticing her standing there with her notebook in silence.

"Test subject #0 is the Governor, isn't it?"

The room fell into dead silence as all three of them turned over to Liang Mei, who barely flinched as she responded calmly.

"Of course not. What makes you think that? It's just a random person out in Luoping. You're overthinking it, Lee."

All three of them didn't buy her answer a single bit as they all stared back at her, dead in the eyes as they all stood there.

"Ahem, all test subjects' information in the lab is classified. Go back to your work and stop asking questions."
