Chapter 699: Kate’s and Anna’s Full Name
CHAPTER 699: KATE’S AND ANNA’S FULL NAME
"Fuck me... Am I really going to wait here for forty minutes?"
Xiaoyun wondered as he impatiently sat in his car. He was already at the hospital’s parking lot.
The thought of walking up to the front desk and making a new appointment was tempting, but he wasn’t about to abuse his position.
He knew the nurses were more than happy to change it for him, considering it seemed like the whole hospital recognized his face as the governor.
Bored, he started thinking about what the nurse had asked him earlier. The thing that had eluded him the whole drive to the hospital.
"How can I forget about her full name? Did I really never hear either of their full name before?"
The more Xiaoyun thought about it, the more disturbed he felt. Even in the wedding vows, the host never said either of his wives’ last names.
They had always gone on a first-name basis with everyone. No one had ever tried to call their last name, nor did they ever show their ID to him.
"They had to say it at some point."
As he sat in his car, digging through all of his various memories, he finally found something that matched Anna’s last name.
"The new gun she made is called HK417. It has to be either Heckler or Koch... But which one?"
Finding himself in a dead end, Xiaoyun didn’t try to dig deeper. However, there was now one last one that he had no clue about.
"Did Kate really never say her last name a single time?"
Unable to find it anywhere in his memory, he started to get curious. Too curious, in fact, that he began texting Leyan.
After waiting for a few minutes, Leyan finally responded.
"Katerina Romanova?"
Seeing her full name in text, Xiaoyun was a little surprised. He had always called her Kate and nothing else.
Not a single person he had talked to ever called her Katerina. Not even on their wedding day did the priest call her Katerina.
"Why doesn’t she like people calling her Katerina?"
Once again, he couldn’t figure it out. With nothing much to do, he turned on the music and began waiting.
After waiting in the car for almost thirty minutes, a loud screeching noise instantly snapped Xiaoyun’s mind from delving deep into the music.
Looking outside his window, a mysterious Ferrari had pulled up to the hospital parking lot, its tires coming to a screeching stop as it barely hit the front curb.
"Whew! I told you we’re going to make it in time."
Xiaoyun was a little shocked as it was no one other than Kate and Anna who exited the car with five minutes to spare.
"I’m never letting you drive again. I almost threw up sitting in that car. Do you even know how fast you were going?"
Anna complained, her hand resting on the car frame as if she was still recovering from some sort of car sickness.
"Better than being late. Come on, let’s go inside——"
"Ahem, did you two forget I’m coming with you?"
The moment he stepped out of the car, the two of them both turned their head towards him, looking a little surprised.
"How long have you been waiting here?"
"Since I made the phone call to you guys. Anyway, let’s go to the appointment before the nurse cancels it."
As the three of them entered the hospital, they were quickly greeted by a front desk nurse, who took their name and birth dates.
After waiting for just a few minutes, they were quickly sent to meet with a doctor. The same doctor who checked on Tianci’s pregnancy.
"Good evening, Governor... These two are?"
"They are my wives. They’re here for the initial prenatal appointment." Xiaoyun answered with a straight face.
"So the TV show really was true... Ahem, Governor, can you step outside? I’ll need to perform some checks first."
Both of his wives’ faces flushed as soon as the doctor mentioned the word TV, as they knew exactly what she was talking about.
"No problem. Just call me when you guys are done."
Xiaoyun quickly stepped out of the room, leaving the two inside as he closed the door for them.
---
An hour later...
"Ugh, why did that appointment take so long?" Kate complained as she stretched out her arms, her body looking beyond exhausted.
"Maybe if you didn’t come so late, you would have had everything prepared rather than causing trouble for the nurses," Xiaoyun argued back.
"Whatever. I’m never doing this again. I’d rather let my body do whatever rather than go through these kinds of appointments again——"
"You’re coming with me to the next appointment. You shouldn’t be that selfish as a mother carrying a baby." Anna murmured.
Kate didn’t argue any further as she got back into the Ferrari. But to Xiaoyun’s surprise, Anna had followed him all the way to his SUV.
"You aren’t going to sit in Kate’s car?"
"I hate sports cars. Open the passenger seat."
As Xiaoyun pressed his car key, Anna quickly hopped into the passenger seat, connecting her seatbelt before Xiaoyun had even seated down.
"Geez, she drives so recklessly," Xiaoyun murmured as he watched the Ferrari speed out of the parking lot in seconds.
"That’s exactly why I don’t want to sit in her car... You let her be your main driver in the past?"
"Yeah. But she never drove that crazy... Anyway, where did she get a Ferrari from? I never remember letting luxury cars be sold to the public."
Xiaoyun asked as he started up the engine, driving out of the parking lot as he began heading back home.
"One of the business partners gifted the car to us in Qingyuan. He said the gas is more expensive than the car anyway."
"He isn’t wrong. He is probably more than happy to trade away a metal junk for a favor."
As the car began driving down the road, Xioayun suddenly got a little curious about something.
"Hey Anna, what kind of deals did you make in Qingyuan?"
"Just signing a long-term steel contract."
"How much is the deal worth?"
"Why do you want to know about it?" Anna questioned back, her face looking a little cautious towards him.
"I’m just a little curious. You don’t have to tell me if it’s a trade secret or something."
Seeing Xiaoyun not pressing her to speak up any further, Anna herself decided to tell him about it anyway.
"It’s worth three hundred million NRC."
"Three hundred million! God damn, that’s some crazy high number... Does your company even have that much cash flow?"
"It’s going to be paid over the entire fiscal year. And the steel factory isn’t even fully repaired yet.
We’re only going to start paying them when we actually get their produced product. It’s just a memorandum."
"Oh, a memorandum... So a nothingburger"
The shocked face quickly vanished from Xiaoyun’s face as he quietly murmured the last part to himself.
"What’s that look for? Are you trying to suggest something?" Anna questioned, noticing the change on his face.
"What look? I’m checking my rear mirror. I don’t know what you’re talking about."
Xiaoyun quickly made up an excuse as his arrogant face vanished, replaced by a bland poker face.
"Hmph."
As Anna crossed her arms in irritation, Xiaoyun awkwardly scratched his head, knowing he had fucked up.
---
"Welcome back! How’s your guy’s prenatal appointment?" Leyan curiously asked as she opened the door for the two of them.
"Everything is good... Where’s Kate?"
Anna curiously asked, noticing her not sitting on the living room sofa despite her car parked outside.
"She went to take a shower... Can you two take care of the babies? I need to go cook dinner right now."
"Sure... Hey Leyan, where’s Lily?" Xiaoyun yelled out loud as Leyan already headed over to the kitchen.
"She went to her friend’s home since the morning!"
"Huh. Shouldn’t she be coming back home already?" Xiaoyun murmured as he looked over to the clock, which showed almost exactly six o’clock.
"You want to go check up on Lily? I can take care of the babies." Anna suggested as she sat down on the floor to play with them.
Xiaoyun thought about it for a second, then thanked her as he headed back to the garage and went inside his car.
Just before putting the key to start the engine, he took out his phone and dialed Lily’s phone number.
"Hello?"
"Lily, where are you?"
"I’m at my friend’s house... Is there something wrong?"
"Have you checked the time? It’s almost seven o’clock. Do you want me to drive over to pick you up right now?"
"What! How is it already seven o’clock? The sun is still out and about. That’s impossible."
"Check your phone’s time. You tell me if it is seven o’clock or not... You’re going to say something or just going to stay silent?"
As Xiaoyun pressed the button to open the garage door, Lily finally responded with an answer.
"Fine. You can come over and pick me up."
"Where are you at exactly?"
"I sent it to you on text."
After receiving the text from her, Xiaoyun gave her one last message before hanging up the call.
"Get ready in five minutes."
