CHAPTER 250: CHAPTER 250: MURDER?

"Shut up, both of you! She is burning up with fever and has been unconscious for 3 days. And you are competing?" Kael chided, his expression as dark as the midnight sky.

Ember and Felix fell silent. Though they acted cheerful, in reality, they were worried too.

Silas clenched his fist, his eyes worriedly staring at Ivy.

Everything was going great. At least from his perspective, but when he finished his secret meeting with the men of the family, he noticed an anomaly: Ivy... was sleeping for more than 3 hours.

At first, he thought she was worn out, but as midnight approached and Ivy didn’t show any sign of waking up, Silas’s heart trembled, and an ominous feeling started to rise in his heart.

With light movement, he tried to wake up Ivy, but she remained motionless.

He even tried to wake her up by applying force, but the result remained the same.

Now three days have passed, and even the healer had been summoned twice, yet nothing changed.

Her pulse was weak but steady, her breathing shallow, and her body temperature kept rising no matter what remedies they tried.

Kael paced near the bedside.

"This isn’t a normal fever. The medicines should have worked by now," he muttered, frustration leaking into his voice.

Ember sat by Ivy’s side, gently dabbing a wet cloth on her forehead.

"She’s sweating so much... but her skin feels cold." Her voice trembled as she spoke. "It’s like her body’s fighting something we can’t see."

Just as the family was thinking of using some kind of unconventional method, Ivy’s eyelids started to flutter.

"She is waking up!" Ember was the first to notice; her voice rose a notch, attracting everyone’s attention.

Sure enough, they saw Ivy stirring. In the past few days, Ivy hardly moved. Sometimes she murmured Ember’s name and apologized, but apart from that... she remained still.

When eyelids started to open, the Nightbanes and Silas held their breath.

Ivy slowly opened her eyes, blinking against the dim light that flickered in the room. Her vision was blurry at first, the faces hovering over her just vague shadows.

Then, little by little, they came into focus...Ember’s moist eyes, Kael’s tense expression, Felix’s pale face, Helena’s worried gaze, Victor’s stern face, and Silas’s trembling hands gripping the edge of the bed.

Ember?

Ivy’s body moved on instinct, and she hugged Ember as if she were her last straw that could anchor her.

"Ember... ember..." She whispered. Her voice sounded a little hoarse, but it still carried its unique charm.

Ember was taken aback, but her heart melted when Ivy hugged her with so much love.

Her heart started to leap in joy, and she muttered in a soft voice,

"Yes. I am here."

Ivy’s eyes moistened, and she choked back the sob rising in her throat.

Blessed were those who were given a second chance to start over, and Ivy... truly felt grateful.

Looking at the worried faces of everyone else, Ivy let the tears flow.

Maybe in her previous life, God had turned a blind eye to her suffering, but in this current life, He has not. She got them all...

Her loving parents, her caring siblings, and a sweet husband.

"She might have had a nightmare." Helena wiped away her tear and smiled.

"Strange... Ivy has never seen Ember... so how did she know who was Ember?" Felix murmured, while Kael’s eyes darkened a bit.

"Ember, pull away; let Ivy eat something. My little sister suffered so much just after arriving here! God knows what kind of terrible impression she might have of us!" Felix yelled. He would never admit that he was jealous!

His heart was filled with anguish.

’If only that damn kidnapper hadn’t taken away my little sister, she would be hugging me now! I would have raised her as a little flower and my follower!’

"You are just jealous!" Ember’s voice, laced with joy, pierced a knife in Felix’s heart again.

"You..."

"Alright! Alright! Stop fighting. Ivy dear, are you feeling okay now? Did you have a nightmare about Ember?" Helena’s gentle voice broke Ivy’s trance.

She blinked before shaking her head. "Not a nightmare. It was the future."

The atmosphere turned still, and all of the Nightbane’s eyes widened in surprise.

Silas, on the other hand, clenched his fist.

’She is finally going to open up.’

A part of him was upset that Ivy didn’t tell him everything first, but at the same time, he knew that whatever Ivy did... always had a reason.

And maybe... Ivy’s story will shed light on her decision, too.

"What are you saying, Ivy?" Helena’s voice trembled slightly.

Ivy pulled away from Ember, her gaze danced around before she softly said, "Let’s meet on the dining table in 1 hour. There are certain things that everyone must know."

Felix wanted to question what she meant, but Kael stopped him.

Everyone left the room under Ivy’s expectant gaze, and soon Ivy took a quick shower before appearing at the dining table.

Her attention was attracted by a bowl of porridge and a plate of red sauce pasta. Her lips curved into a faint smile.

"Eat something first." Helena softly motioned to Ivy.

"Hm." Ivy nodded, because she knew... maybe by the time her story would be over... she wouldn’t be in condition to eat.

"All of you eat too, please." Ivy pleaded, and this time no one contradicted her.

They could see from her gloomy yet fragile aura that she was having a hard time dealing with her internal emotions.

After dinner, everyone nervously took a seat, and an awkward silence spread.

"Haha... Ivy, don’t tell me that you are planning some kind of murder and need our help!" Felix tried to lighten the mood by teasing Ivy.

"Felix..." Kael began to reprimand him when Ivy interrupted.

"You are correct, brother. I am planning murder."

Her heavy gaze swept over everyone else as she asked with a smile,

"I am planning to kill many humans. Would you still be willing to assist me?"
