CHAPTER 70: CHAPTER 70: WAVELENGTH

Ivy blinked, her eyes couldn’t believe the scene in front of her. But since it wasn’t the first time and too many anomalies had happened today, she let it go.

"Okay. I forgive you." Her softly sounded like a melody to Henry’s ears. He beamed before getting in the car.

On the way, Silas scooted near Ivy discreetly and held her hand, but this time Ivy pulled away. The wall that had crumbled after so many attempts seemed to have been built again.

Silas could feel it, and his heart tightened. He wanted to hold Ivy in his arms and question her.

Why, after spending such a beautiful moment, did she suddenly turn cold and become distant?

[Host, I advise you to stay away from her for now.] The system’s sudden voice made Silas pause, his brows furrowed.

’What do you mean?’ Silas asked, his tone was hard, and his right hand, hidden from everyone’s view secretly clenched.

[This woman’s wavelength is strange. It is as if she is sending out death wavelengths.] The system sounded uncertain and could offer the knowledge it knew.

’Death wavelength?’ Questioned in his mind, and the system didn’t keep him hanging.

’Stop. Get to the point.’ Silas was irritated by the system’s praises. His mind was filled with Ivy and Ivy only. He was scared that, because of this stupid system, something would happen to Ivy.

[Okay. I mean to say, the wavelength of this woman has been disturbed, and hence she is emitting a death wavelength. For the next 24 hours, whoever stays near her will die. The woman will only face 50% of the danger, though. While those who stay near her will face 200% of the danger.]

Silas’s heart skipped a beat. He selectively ignored the last sentence and focused on Ivy facing danger.

50%! Just how much misfortune she might face if she is alone!

’No! I must stay near her and protect her’ He thought while the system was speechless.

This man! He completely ignored its warning!

’Is there any way to reduce the danger she might face?’ Silas asked, and he brainstormed ways to deflect the impending danger.

Silas fell silent. The ride to the base camp was a long one. On the way plethora of trouble occurred.

First, they almost crashed into a survivor running away. To avoid the accident, Henry steered the car to the left and crashed into a nearby tree.

Thanks to the sturdiness of the car, Henry was still able to drive as the car hardly had any damage.

Just when they crossed 500 meters or so, another car overtook theirs and splashed the dirty water from potholes on theirs.

Henry cursed his luck and used the windshield to wipe away the dirt.

Soon they crashed into an oncoming car, before meeting a horde of zombies, and even after reaching the military camp, they didn’t escape their misfortune.

Looking at the punctured tires, Henry bellowed, "What the heck is happening? Is it truly our death day?"

Ivy felt guilty and distanced herself from Henry and Silas.

How could her discreet movement escape from Silas’s eyes? He simply closed the distance and scooped her in his arms.

"You! What are you doing? Put me down!" Ivy panicked and tried to distance herself, but Silas’s hold was so tight that it was almost impossible to move away from him.

"Nothing, I am worried you will faint again, so I picked you up. Let’s go." With that, he carried her toward his apartment in the military camp.

Seeing the domineering attitude of his boss, Henry gave a thumbs-up to Silas and nodded in appreciation.

"If this continued, they might be consummating their marriage within 2 weeks."

"What are you babbling about?" A familiar warm voice echoed near his ears, and the mature aura around him drained. He turned around and hugged Amelia with closed eyes,

"Baby! I missed you!"

"Baby?!!" Chloe’s voice made Henry terrified, and he opened his eyes. To his horror, Silas’s entire team was present there while Amelia closed her eyes.

They are done for!

Ivy struggled, but eventually, feeling a few weird on herself, she pretended to play dead. The embarrassment was too much to bear.

The fresh scent of Bougainvillea cleared Ivy’s mind a bit, and she couldn’t help but sniff. That was when Silas’s fresh woody scent assaulted her.

It was comforting and soothing, making her heart settle. As if... as if she stayed near him, everything would be alright.

Reaching his apartment, Ivy continued her struggle, and this time, Silas put her down. The guy didn’t break out in sweat.

"From now on, stay with me," Silas ordered, and Ivy was taken aback. She figured she might stay with him for 20 days or so.

But Silas’s word indicated a different meaning.

"You..." Ivy opened her mouth to protest, but Silas interrupted with a serious expression,

"Ivy, you may not know this, but you are in grave danger. It would be better if you stayed near me."

Ivy’s heart skipped a beat. ’Does he know something? Has he been reborn too?’

She gulped and asked tentatively, her finger gripping the hem of her skirt, "What do you mean?"
