Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower
Chapter 76: Superpowers
CHAPTER 76: CHAPTER 76: SUPERPOWERS
Silas left the senile old man in his office. He won’t stand and listen to bullsh*t when his wife is getting insulted.
Reaching the training grounds, his deep eyes surveyed the area and locked onto his team members.
They were sparing with each other. Pointing out mistakes while exploiting the opening of the opponents, they improved themselves. It was a training plan Silas had come up with.
With purposeful steps, he reached their location and waited for them to finish their training.
His presence made a few of them falter, but they quickly returned to their normal self continuing with the spar, till one of them emerged as the victor.
They knew Silas hated it when they stopped their training mid-way just because of silly reasons.
Aiden and Scarlett were the ones who had finished their training first. Scarlett grinned and jogged up to Silas.
"Captain~ What meritorious deed have we done that you are gracing your presence on us?"
Silas merely spared a glance at Scarlett to warn her not to touch him. Soon, the remaining finished their routine training and saluted him.
"You might have an idea about my visit. General has assigned us the clear outer region of Skyline residential as well as the area near Brimstone Mountain."
Everyone nodded. They were assigned this mission just today morning during the discussion of the sudden death of soldiers.
"We will set out tomorrow morning. Pack all the necessary items. Has either of you awakened any superpower?"
A bright smile appeared on their face. Compared to others who had awakened their superpower right away, Silas’s team was a bit special.
The only silver lining was, even though others had awakened the power, they couldn’t summon or control it.
Silas, too had a thunder superpower, but it was still dormant state. He wondered if awakening superpower late would give them any benefit or just prove to be a snag.
Now, seeing the blinding smile, he knew they had awakened a superpower. Sure enough, the next second, Scarlett beamed.
"I will demonstrate mine first."
Without waiting for any confirmation, she lifted her hand and moved it in the direction of one of the stones.
A miraculous scene appeared. The stone, which was the size of a finger, enlarged on it own and became palm-sized stone.
"Size manipulation, good," Silas muttered in appreciation.
Scarlett’s cheeks turned crimson, and she made circles on the ground with her toenail. Her melodious voice echoed.
"Captain, I am the only woman in the entire military to awaken such a rare superpower. If you pair with me, we will become the golden couple."
What Scarlett didn’t notice was that Aiden’s expression turned dark hearing her comment, and he looked at Scarlett with quiet sorrow.
Silas, with his deep eyes, replied with a stoic expression, "No need, I already have someone I like."
Snubbing a certain red-haired woman, Silas turned toward others.
One by one, each of them demonstrated their superpower, earning an appreciative nod from Silas.
Chloe had awakened strength manipulation, an interesting power. With it, she can enhance or reduce strength at will, potentially transforming a weak individual into someone with great strength.
Arial had awakened Illusion superpower, Jack had awakened Thunder, Amelia had awakened speed manipulation, while Aiden had awakened teleportation.
What worried Silas was Henry... he had awakened Water’s superpower. Ivy’s words resurfaced in his mind, making his heart grip with slight anxiety.
What if Henry, too...
’No... I shouldn’t to such conclusions. Even if that was the case, I should take preventative measures.’
Drawing upon his rudimentary understanding, Silas asserted,
"Henry, stay away from cold water for the upcoming few days. Workout more. Eat more protein, avoid staying in contact with zombies. Wear more warm clothes."
The flurry of heartfelt command made the group gape at Silas in surprise. Eh? When did their indifferent captain become so caring?
Scarlette leveled a searing glare at Henry, as though confronting a sworn adversary. Meanwhile, Henry lifted his hand, his face a very picture of innocence.
"May I also be graced with your compassion, Captain?" She asked with mock innocence. But Silas disregarded her remark and stated the information he had obtained.
The atmosphere turned somber, and the playful grin vanished from Amelia’s expression.
"Captain, are you serious?" Amelia asked. Anxiety was evident in her voice. Color drained from her face when Silas gave a nod.
She turned toward Henry and, seeing him wearing a tank top, her heart sank. She rushed toward her bag, took out a blanket, and draped it on Henry.
"Let’s go, you should take a bath with warm water."
"Eh? Hey! Wait! The matter isn’t that serious!"
Ignoring Henry’s protest, Amelia whipped her head to Silas, waiting for his permission. She didn’t have to wait as Silas approved of her action and nodded.
"Those two are so in love." Arial, ever the silent one, commented while others nodded simultaneously, making the scene look a bit hilarious.
"Exclude Henry from tomorrow’s mission. And continue with your training."
Unmoved by Scarlett’s repeated call, Silas turned on his heel and walked away and returning to his apartment.
Once in the apartment, he looked at the empty living room and thought that Ivy was in her room. After a moment of hesitation, he knocked on the guest room and called out,
"Ivy?"
Silence echoed in the empty hallway. ’Was she asleep?’ He thought and decided not to bother her.
However, his guts told him to check once more... check if Ivy was truly inside.
With that thought, he knocked persistently, but no one responded.
’Strange. Even if she was sleeping, the sound of knocking must have made her awake.’
Ivy wasn’t a heavy sleeper to begin with. With furrowed brows, Silas called, "Ivy? Are you in there? If you are, please respond; otherwise, I will have to use the spare keys."
No response.
Silas’s heart gripped with worry when he recalled the death wavelength Ivy was emitting earlier.
Did she encounter some kind of trouble? Or worse, she...
Silas cursed himself for leaving her all alone, and expeditiously fetched the spare keys and opened the door.
The sight in front of him astounded him.
