CHAPTER 77: CHAPTER 77: ALANA WHITMORE

Ivy snapped out of her daze and looked at the black Mercedes-Benz G-Class nearing her location.

Spotting Ivy, the car stopped in front of her, and the windows were rolled down. A man with auburn hair and sculpted visage flashed a charming smile in Ivy’s direction.

"Hey, can you tell us where Elro Hills are? General directions will do. Our phone is out of battery so we can’t use google maps."

Though the man tried to create a friendly atmosphere, the dried blood on his forehead, and his disheveled appearance was speaking volumes about his arduous journey.

"It’s 2 hours from here. And you are going in the wrong direction." Ivy calmly replied, before continuing with her journey.

Sensing her indifference, the man’s eyes lit up. In an apocalypse, the only thing that can raise an alert is a helpful personality.

Outrageously so, the guards of the man were lowered, and he grinned. "Ma’am, you look tired. Do you want to join us?"

"No." Two voices sounded simultaneously.

Ivy raised her eyebrow in interest. Before continuing to walk, she never realized that a woman was sitting in the backseat all along.

However, she was fairly uninterested in getting to know further and continued her journey. The car roared and again stopped in front of her.

"Mind telling us if the direction we are heading is correct?"

Earlier, they were going in the direction opposite to Ivy, but now they were following her. Ivy gave a nod and added an extra sentence.

"You need to drive straight for the next 15 minutes before you will reach an intersection, take a left, and ask any passerby..."

Midway through her sentence, she paused. Which passerby will be out? Zombies? Eh... but zombies can’t tell location.

"Anyways, after taking a left, go straight for another 20 minutes, and you will reach a luxurious shopping complex. Take left again and then right."

Though Ivy wasn’t sure if they would remember the instructions or not, it wasn’t her business anyway. She continued to walk, while the car bypassed her.

In the car, the man, named Felix, turned toward his wife Alana, who was peeking in Ivy’s direction with a guarded gaze.

"Don’t worry, she won’t try to loot us like others." He assured, knowing fully well why his gentle wife had turned paranoid.

Just a few weeks ago, they were staying in their house when a few zombies crept into their house and started to attack them.

Luckily, they had prepared for such a situation and rushed to their car, in which they had placed 90% of their supplies.

After leaving, they met a injured passerby and helped him out of kindness, who would have thought that the passerby would steal 50% of their supplies and run away?

They also encountered a few scammers who acted pitifully and scammed food from them.

His eyes unconsciously looked at the pair of twins lying on her lap, sorrow replacing the nonchalant look in his eyes.

Alana pursed her lips before shaking her head.

"You don’t understand! That girl... why is she all alone in such a dangerous forest? Worst... I keep on feeling as if the zombies were avoiding her..."

"Maybe she has awakened a superpower which can minimize her presence." Felix proposed a hypothesis and Alana felt Felix’s theory did make sense.

"Mom... its hot..." One of the twins with beautiful black hair stirred in his sleep, and their attention shifted to their children.

"Mommy will find you medicine, sweethearts. Just don’t fall asleep completely, okay? We are almost reaching uncle’s base." Alana assured, her voice filled with feigned calm. Only she knew how much she was panicking from inside.

Felix’s expression turned grim as he stared at the road ahead and suddenly said, "I am sorry, Alana... but my gut feeling is telling me... I should help that girl."

Alana’s eyes widened, and she hissed, "Felix, don’t tell me you have fallen for that girl?"

After the arrival of the apocalypse, Alana had seen many of the capable men cheating on their wives and even keeping mistresses.

Her own husband became even more powerful after awakening his superpower, while she was an ordinary woman with no power.

If he leaves her... then how will she take care of her children? How will she survive? Or what if he wanted to keep that girl as mistress?

"You are overthinking, Alana. I have and always will continue to love you. I am just not sure if we will reach the correct location even after 2 hours, our children can’t wait anymore." Felix asserted; his determined eyes soothed her, and the rational mind, which was clouded due to the fear, cleared a bit.

Seeing her calm, Felix continued, "If you don’t want, I will not do it. But my guts are telling me I will regret turning back on her."

Alana closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and finally whispered, "Alright."

Felix waited for Ivy to catch up, before rolling his window and offered, "Hello miss, its like this. I am terrible at directions, so can you lead us to Elor Hills? In return, I will drop you where you want to go."

Ivy suspiciously stared at Felix and coldly uttered, "No thanks."

Seeing her guarded demeanor, Felix explained,

"Miss, please wait. Actually, my two children are having a fever, and their condition is worsening day by day. We wanted to reach the Elor hills, since my wife’s brother lives there. It would be great if you can lead us."

Ivy paused and asked with narrowed gaze, "Name?"

"Felix Whitmore." Felix thought Ivy was asking for his name. Ivy, too, knew that he had misunderstood and explained.

"The name of your wife’s brother."

"Oh! His name is Joseph Richard. He is a military man and has..."

"Joseph Richard?" Ivy’s eyes widened in surprise.

She suddenly remembered about the man’s name... Felix Whitmore. A Whitmore related to Richard...

Her curious eyes glanced at the black glass as if she could see through the backseat. Her voice trembled due to excitement as she asked,

"So... Alana Whitmore should be sitting in the backseat?"
