After she finished her words, Pei Yixie took a deep breath before she added, "Under normal circumstances, the chance for us to have an awakening ability is lower than five percent. But why are most of the Pei family’s children not only awakening their abilities, but one-tenth of them even dual Ability-Users?"

Without waiting for his reply, she said, "That’s because all of us were injected with an unknown drug in the laboratory. Out of one hundred children, only one or two children survived."

"The rest of them either turned into monsters or died on the spot. I watched with my own eyes how they threw the failed subjects into a pit and burned them as if they were nothing but trash."

"Now you tell me, is that kind person still worthy of being my Father? Is he not a beast in human skin?" she asked coldly.

Pei Yijun was stunned by his sister’s words. He never thought that his sister carried this secret for so many years. Now, he finally understood.

No wonder that after she was found and returned to the family, her personality changed. She avoided them as if they were monsters and insisted on living alone in another city.

Pei Yixie closed her reddened eyes for a while before she opened them and said firmly, "Pei Yijun, I will never return to the Pei family. If you insist on bringing me back, don’t blame me for ignoring our blood relationship."

After learning the shocking secret, Pei Yijun had no words to refute his sister. If he were in her position, he might not be able to stay as calm as his sister.

Growing up in a privileged family, he had to admit that he was a spoiled young master. Even after experiencing the loss of his close friend, he was still not as mature as his sister, whom he once thought of as an ignorant girl.

While he was processing the ugly truth of the Pei family, both Jin Xuyan and Fu Guai said nothing and continued drinking their coffee or eating the snacks.

In the entire house, only the sound of Fu Guai munching the potato chips could be heard.

At first, Pei Yixie thought that her emotions would go out of control, or at least she would be shouting like a madwoman when she told her brother about this secret. Unexpectedly, she was calmer than she thought.

Now sitting beside Fu Guai and listening to the rhythmical crunching sound, her emotions stabilized. As her mind drifted, she realized that hating someone also used up a lot of energy and was exhausting.

All these years, she had continued living with only one goal: to take revenge against the Pei family and the Facility.

But after she met with her half-brother and the Phantom Team members, she understood that rather than wasting time on those people, she should focus on her own happiness and live well.

She had so many people who cared about her and someone who would accompany her and become her support. Why should she bother with the people who only have a blood relationship with her but are not even worthy of being her family?

Reaching this conclusion, the heavy burden pressing her heart for so many years was lifted. She had never felt as relaxed as now.

After a long time, she finally broke the silence and said, "Brother, Pei Xun is a lustful man. He has so many illegitimate children out there. We might have more siblings than we thought."

The moment he heard this, Pei Yijun recalled what he saw in his father’s office. He raised his head and stared at his sister. Meeting her clear gaze, a wild guess flashed in his mind.

He turned his gaze to Jin Xuyan and said in disbelief, "You mean that Jin Xuyan is our Father’s illegitimate son?"

At his words, Jin Xuyan placed his cup on the table and said, "I have nothing to do with him or the Pei family."

"But Brother, you—" Pei Yixie said.

Before she finished her words, Jin Xuyan cut her off. "Pei Xun indeed adopted me from the orphanage, and I was registered as his son."

"But, I had no blood relationship with him or anyone from the Pei family. Unlike both of you, I was the only one of the children adopted by the Pei family and sent to the Facility as test subjects."

When Pei Yijun heard this, he heaved a sigh of relief. He couldn’t bring himself to acknowledge Jin Xuyan as his half-brother. As for Pei Yixie, she was disappointed.

Noticing her downcast mood, Fu Guai patted her head and said, "Don’t worry. Since the Captain already acknowledges you as his sister, even without a blood relationship, you will forever be his sister. What’s more, now that you are a member of the Phantom Team, we will be your brothers."

Hearing his words, Pei Yixie nodded and let him rub her head. At this moment, she was glad that she always washed her hair at least once a day. Otherwise, she couldn’t imagine how Fu Guai would react if he touched oily, dirty hair.

Out of the four, only Pei Yijun was feeling as if he were riding a roller coaster. His emotions went up and down so many times in such a short time that it made him feel overwhelmed.

Ten minutes later, he finally calmed down and said, "Yixie, I will investigate this matter. If what you said is true, I will make sure everyone who harmed you pays ten times over."

Pei Yixie shook her head and replied, "With your current strength, you’d better not do it. Not to mention the Facility, you can’t even go against Pei Xun. Rather than putting yourself in danger, it’s better for you to think of a way to escape from his clutches."

This time, Pei Yijun said nothing. Before he came, he already knew that his Father had sent a group of people to bring his sister back.
