Chapter 1001 - 998: The Destruction of the Yin Yang Life Fruit
CHAPTER 1001: CHAPTER 998: THE DESTRUCTION OF THE YIN YANG LIFE FRUIT
Lin Tian’s speed was unmatched by the black mist. With a single flash and grab, he caught the black mist in his hand, hitting the target without giving it any chance to cause trouble.
The most important herbs were placed in the pavilion, and if the black mist destroyed them, there would be no one to hold accountable, so Lin Tian wouldn’t allow any accidents to happen.
The black mist squirmed incessantly in Lin Tian’s hand, as if trying to break free. But it was merely a bit of witchcraft energy, far from being a match for Lin Tian.
Lin Tian simply squeezed it hard, compressing the black mist to the size of a pill, then unhesitatingly put it into his mouth and swallowed it. Like the light orb before, the black mist didn’t escape, and in the blink of an eye, it became nourishment for Lin Tian.
"Junior Brother, you...you swallowed it?" Zi Yan said in astonishment, her eyes wide with disbelief as she looked at Lin Tian.
Lin Tian opened his hand, trying to show he was fine, but it startled Zi Yan, making her think he was being controlled.
"Don’t worry, I’m fine. What’s a little witchcraft? Even if the Black Robed Secret Master came personally, I’d still fight him," Lin Tian reassured her.
"As long as you’re okay. If you were controlled, that would be bad; no one here could defeat you, and tomorrow’s headline would definitely be about a mysterious powerful figure wreaking havoc at the Yun Family. You’d become famous," Zi Yan said with relief.
After she finished, she seemed to realize something and suddenly exclaimed, "Oh no, the Yin Yang Life Fruit!"
She then dashed to the alchemical furnace and, upon seeing the situation inside, her expression collapsed.
"Junior Brother, the Yin Yang Life Fruit has been ruined by witchcraft," Zi Yan said, somewhat gravely.
"I know," Lin Tian nodded. "The black mist was different from the light orb. When it burst, it affected the Yin Yang Life Fruit, blasting it to pieces."
Zi Yan was troubled and said, "What do we do? Even though you still have four Yin Yang Life Fruits left, they’re definitely imbued with witchcraft as well, which means nothing."
"What else can we do? We’ll just catch the black mist," Lin Tian said nonchalantly.
"How do we catch it? I’m telling you now, don’t expect me to be bait so you can use mouth-to-mouth as an excuse to take advantage of me," Zi Yan declared before anything could happen.
Lin Tian’s eyebrows raised subtly. He did indeed have such a thought earlier—it would both lure the black mist and provide a chance to practice mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Why not?
However, since his senior sister saw through him, Lin Tian’s plan couldn’t proceed, leaving him to find another method, albeit reluctantly.
After thinking it over carefully, Lin Tian said to Zi Yan, "Senior Sister, when I extract the Yin Yang Life Fruit later, you should leave the pavilion, and go a distance away, preferably to the edge of the sea eye. Let the sea eye mask your presence so the black mist doesn’t sense any humans nearby."
"You’re strange. I’m a living person, aren’t you one too? How will you mask your presence?" Zi Yan asked curiously.
Lin Tian felt a slight jolt, realizing he had slipped into speaking like a zombie, but fortunately, Zi Yan didn’t think too much of it.
"Don’t worry about it. I have my ways, so just go along with it. After sealing the bottle, leave the pavilion immediately," Lin Tian murmured vaguely and then decided.
He placed the bottle back on the ground, twisted the cap, opening a small hole with a "click," then flicked the bottle, causing a Yin Yang Life Fruit to shoot out, which Lin Tian caught in his hand.
Zi Yan took the bottle, quickly sealed it with a "click," then dashed away from the pavilion, stopping only at the edge of the sea eye. Meanwhile, Lin Tian threw the Yin Yang Life Fruit into the alchemical furnace, started the charcoal, and began heating the furnace.
From a distance, Zi Yan watched Lin Tian nervously. She was more anxious than Lin Tian because only four Yin Yang Life Fruits were left, and if this failed again, causing another to be ruined, the consequences would be dire.
Lin Tian remained calm, controlling the flame without showing a hint of anxiety, impressing Zi Yan from afar. Her junior brother was daring and skillful, she thought with admiration.
As the heat intensified, the temperature of the alchemical furnace gradually rose. At a certain point, the Yin Yang Life Fruit emitted black mist. Lin Tian remained unfazed, waiting until all the mist emerged and was about to burst, at which point he suddenly reached into the furnace, indifferent to its scorching heat.
This action made Zi Yan gasp in shock, "Junior Brother, you’re crazy, the furnace will cook your hand!"
Though Lin Tian was an Ancient Martial Artist, she had never seen one who could disregard the burning flames.
Lin Tian was undeterred, remaining expressionless as his hand extended into the alchemical furnace without the slightest tremble. He grabbed with five fingers, and when he pulled out his hand, it held a ball of black mist while the Yin Yang Life Fruit inside the furnace was unharmed.
Once again, by the same method, Lin Tian compressed the black mist to the size of a pill, swallowed it, and continued controlling the flame to refine the Yin Yang Life Fruit, the whole process neat and fluent.
Zi Yan quickly ran back to the pavilion and checked Lin Tian’s hand, amazed to find it unharmed.
"Junior Brother, how did you do it?" Zi Yan asked incredulously.
"Are you asking why I’m not afraid of high temperatures, or why the black mist doesn’t possess me?" Lin Tian smiled slightly.
"Of course, both!" Zi Yan exclaimed eagerly.
Lin Tian shot a glance at the somewhat impatient Zi Yan and suddenly laughed, "It’s nothing. It’s because your junior brother has thick skin. Maybe you should touch it yourself, or why not divine for a reading? Aren’t you good at fortune telling?"
"Hmph, if you don’t want to say, then don’t. Who wants to touch you?" Zi Yan huffed, feigning indifference, though her eyes lingered on Lin Tian as if trying to discern his secrets.
Lin Tian paid no mind to Zi Yan’s thoughts, focusing on refining the last herbal ingredient, the main component of the Elixir Recipe.
Once the Yin Yang Life Fruit was heated to the point of slight wrinkling, Lin Tian instructed Zi Yan to add a ladle of water. The Yin Yang Life Fruit immediately decomposed into a potion, producing two kinds of potion, turning the spring water into red and black colors.
Amazingly, the two colors did not mix but rather occupied half of the spring water each, distinctly separated.
"It’s so magical," Zi Yan marveled at the two-colored spring water.
"There’s even more magic to it." Lin Tian smiled calmly as he picked up a spoon and stirred in the alchemical furnace.
As the water swirled in the furnace, a miraculous scene unfolded— the red and black hues did not blend due to the stirring but formed a pair of Yin Yang fish, creating a complete Tai Chi Diagram!
"It’s actually a Tai Chi Diagram. The power of nature is truly incredible. It’s said that in the era of Emperor Fu Xi, a divine turtle appeared from the Luo River, and the patterns on its shell displayed the image of the Innate Eight Diagrams. Inspired by these patterns, Emperor Fu Xi established the Innate Eight Diagrams based on celestial and earthly observations, the alternation of sun and moon, the cycle of four seasons, and the changes in all things. It seems the legend has a factual basis," Zi Yan sighed at the wonder of nature’s power.
