Zombie Bodyguard
Chapter 1009 - 1006: Paternity Test (Part 2)
CHAPTER 1009: CHAPTER 1006: PATERNITY TEST (PART 2)
The Yun Family evidently places more importance on verifying kinship than on refining medicine for Yun Hongxi. Of course, it is highly probable that Yun Hongxi himself arranged this. For the return of his grandson, Yun Hongxi harbors an unusual obsession; deep down, he believes it was his inadequate protection that led to Yun Tian’s abduction.
Because of this, when Yun Tian’s maternal grandfather caused a commotion at the Yun Family, Yun Hongxi remained silent and offered no resistance, allowing the Wang Family to vent their anger.
Some of these things Lin Tian heard from Yun Xiaotian, some from Wang Wanxi, and some directly from Yun Hongxi.
Arriving outside the villa, Lin Tian paused, subconsciously took a deep breath, only to realize it seemed of no use since he didn’t need to breathe to stay alive.
Lin Tian shook his head somewhat speechlessly, then unhesitantly walked into the villa.
There weren’t many people in the living room, or perhaps not many from the Yun Family. Yun Hongxi and his two grandsons were there, along with Wang Wanxi; even Second Young Master Yun only escorted them to the villa entrance before leaving.
The four members of the family were all there, and it was evident that Second Young Master Yun had already informed Yun Hongxi early on about Lin Tian agreeing to the kinship verification.
"Xiao Tian, you’re here; come sit here." Yun Hongxi, still seated in a wheelchair, pointed to the spot beside Yun Xiaotian and said with a smile. Yun Haoyu and Wang Wanxi also greeted Lin Tian with warm smiles.
Lin Tian nodded to each one, exchanged greetings, and then sat beside Yun Xiaotian. After he sat down, Yun Xiaotian appeared somewhat nervous, but Lin Tian didn’t think much of it, for anyone would be nervous before recognizing their biological brother.
"Xiao Tian, let me ask you once more, have you really thought it through?" Yun Hongxi asked solemnly.
"I’ve thought it through, we can start anytime." Lin Tian’s expression was very calm, and after a few seconds of silence, he added, "But before verifying kinship, I have one condition."
"What condition? If it’s something within my capability, I’ll certainly fulfill it," Yun Hongxi asked curiously.
Lin Tian glanced at Yun Xiaotian beside him, the yet unmarried handsome young lad, and said decisively, "Regardless of the outcome, I hope that Yun Xiaotian’s position as the Yun Family’s primary heir won’t change!"
"This..." Yun Hongxi was taken aback, and Yun Haoyu and Wang Wanxi were also stunned. Lin Tian’s demand was beyond their expectations.
The identity of the primary heir to the Yun Family is something many dream of, yet Lin Tian actually doesn’t want it.
"Brother Lin, I..." Yun Xiaotian wanted to say something but was interrupted by Lin Tian waving his hand.
Lin Tian waved his hand, saying, "Xiao Tian, you don’t have to speak; this is my condition for accepting the kinship verification and my sole condition."
Previously, he didn’t mention this to Second Young Master Yun because he knew that Young Master Yun couldn’t decide, so he brought it up only now in front of Yun Hongxi. Yun Hongxi and the others glanced at each other, apparently yet to grasp Lin Tian’s condition.
Yun Haoyu pondered for a moment, then said seriously: "Xiao Tian, the eldest son is the primary heir, it’s been the rule since ancient times."
He tried persuading Lin Tian, but Lin Tian still calmly replied, "I don’t care about the rules; to be blunt, I am indifferent to the position of the Yun Family’s heir."
The atmosphere grew a bit tense; Wang Wanxi wanted to get up and say something but was stopped by Yun Hongxi raising his hand.
"Xiao Tian, I respect your opinion; your condition, I agree to." Yun Hongxi said to Lin Tian, and towards the end, a slight smile crossed his eyes, although Lin Tian didn’t notice.
"Grandfather, how can you agree..." Yun Xiaotian was unexpectedly the first one to express opposition.
"You don’t need to say anymore, my decision is final." Mr. Yun said resolutely, allowing no change.
Yun Xiaotian was angrily stung and sat down heavily, yet he had no way against his grandfather.
"Mr. Yun, how is the kinship verification done?" With the conditions settled, Lin Tian went straight to the point.
Mr. Yun did not respond to Lin Tian’s query but nodded to Yun Haoyu, who then took out his mobile and dialed a number.
"They can be allowed to come up now."
Lin Tian had no idea what they intended to do and could only wait patiently.
Before long, two people entered from outside the villa, a man and a woman, both about Yun Haoyu’s age. They wore professional suits, donned ties, and each carried a briefcase that seemed somewhat heavy.
"Doctor Liu, Doctor Zhao, you can begin now." Yun Haoyu nodded and stated.
From Yun Haoyu’s line of sight, Doctor Liu was the man, and Doctor Zhao was the woman. Their medical professions somewhat surprised Lin Tian; initially, he assumed they were bodyguards. The Yun Family had invited doctors to their home for confidentiality.
The two doctors nodded, placed the briefcases on the ground, and opened them, pulling out several instruments, test tubes, and some unidentified reagents.
After arranging the instruments, the male doctor surnamed Liu approached Yun Haoyu, while the female doctor approached Lin Tian.
"Uh, how is this kinship verification performed?" Lin Tian asked the female doctor.
"Blood extraction, DNA testing," the female doctor said succinctly.
"Blood extraction?" Lin Tian responded with a frown.
The others looked at Lin Tian strangely, and Yun Haoyu puzzlingly asked, "Xiao Tian, are you afraid of blood extraction?"
"Afraid, no, just that..." Lin Tian said hesitantly. Being a zombie, the piercing needle couldn’t push through his skin, which meant the doctor couldn’t draw blood from him.
"Xiao Tian, is there a problem?" Yun Haoyu asked in confusion.
"Uh, no problem, I’ll handle the blood extraction myself, no need to trouble Dr. Zhao." Lin Tian remarked. If it weren’t for drawing blood himself, the doctor wouldn’t obtain his blood.
Though the female doctor found it odd, she refrained from commenting further and handed the blood extraction needle to Lin Tian.
Lin Tian received the needle and, in a moment when nobody was looking, effortlessly expelled half a test tube’s worth of blood.
What a shame; if this blood were used to feed Xiao Manxuan’s Zombie Gu, Little Zi would surely grow stronger, Lin Tian thought regrettably.
The doctors quickly collected the blood samples from Lin Tian and Yun Haoyu, dropped a pale red reagent into each, then placed both test tubes into a centrifuge.
Lin Tian couldn’t decipher it; though he had used a centrifuge in school for chemical experiments, for DNA testing? Unfamiliar territory for non-specialists.
The centrifuge buzzed for several minutes, then the female doctor pressed the stop button, opened the lid, and retrieved the test tubes.
Afterward, they powered up another device that Lin Tian identified clearly; its body bore the device’s name: PCR gene amplification machine.
Looks like the Yun Family was exceptionally prepared, bringing even such equipment, although Lin Tian didn’t understand the PCR machine’s principles. From the "gene" in its name, he could guess it was crucial for verifying DNA.
