CHAPTER 1064: CHAPTER 1061: NING FAMILY
Lin Tian had just sent out the message when his phone rang. He glanced at the screen and saw that it was Miss calling, so he picked up.
"Miss, calling me right after parting. You must miss me a lot?" Lin Tian teased.
"Hell no! I’m calling to ask, where did you get that elixir recipe?" Miss snorted and asked.
Lin Tian chuckled lightly and replied, "That’s a secret, but I must remind you, this is a genuine elixir recipe, not just some ordinary prescription."
"An elixir recipe!" Miss exclaimed and, after a moment, said, "Where did you get so many elixir recipes from? I’m suspecting you raided some pharmacist’s lair."
"You’re right. I did raid a pharmacist’s lair, hehe." Lin Tian laughed, knowing the Shrine was Oda Manaka’s lair, and Oda Manaka is indeed a pharmacist.
"Anyway, I must thank you, even though saying thanks might not be sufficient." Miss said sincerely.
She knew the value of an elixir recipe; although the one Lin Tian gave couldn’t compare with the Xiao Family’s, it’s still a hot commodity in the Ancient Martial World.
"If Miss feels ’thank you’ is too light, you might consider repaying me with your life." Lin Tian couldn’t help but tease.
"Get lost!"
Lin Tian’s teasing was met with a frustrated "get lost" before the phone went dead. Damn, I’ve irritated Miss again. Who said she likes me? I’d confront them. Does this look like she likes me? Can’t even joke a little. Lin Tian thought in annoyance.
After the call with Miss, Lin Tian recalled Mr. Yun mentioning Blue Snake Grass and carefully reminisced about it. Blue Snake Grass grows beneath ice layers, and its nourishment source is unknown. According to the "Shennong Emperor’s Medical Scripture," the growth environment matches that of Earth’s polar regions.
However, the medical scripture mentions another place, an ice-sealed underground cave. Such caves are deep beneath the surface within an enclosed geological environment, with perennially frozen temperatures due to certain geological conditions.
This ice-sealed cave environment is similar to polar conditions, and it’s very likely Blue Snake Grass grows there as well. But Lin Tian shook his head; although these caves seem a bit safer than harsh polar climates, ice-sealed caves themselves are as rare as Blue Snake Grass. Searching through them for the grass could be slower than seeking it in the polar regions.
At least the polar region isn’t going anywhere, but ice-sealed caves are nearly impossible to locate. To this day, no geological survey team has discovered such unique formations outside polar regions.
Contemplating with no breakthroughs, Lin Tian decided not to dwell on it. Feeling bored, he went out to pick petals with An Xiaoru. Though acting like a flower thief, An Xiaoru was noticeably delighted and wouldn’t stop until all flowers in the garden were picked.
After picking flowers from the garden, it was almost evening. An Xiaoru took the petals to the brewmaster, while Lin Tian returned to his room and found several missed calls from Miss.
Feeling puzzled, he intended to return the call but found a message from Miss.
After reading the message, Lin Tian smiled. It wasn’t a love confession from Miss but a notice that the Bai Family had transferred all Jinghua City’s sales channels to the Xiao Family. In one afternoon, they completed all the procedures.
Though Miss didn’t explicitly state the reason for the premature transfer in her message, Lin Tian could guess it. The Bai Family indeed encountered financial issues and wanted to quickly resolve this matter to free themselves from the Xiao Family’s constraints.
The Bai Family had already lost a significant sum in Zhonghai City’s Gambling Stone Festival, and with those fake jade stones, their losses were substantial.
Of course, the Bai Family lacked funds, but they could borrow from banks or partners. The fact they didn’t indicates banks and partners knew about their troubles.
Banks behave this way; when your business is thriving, they rush to lend you money. But when trouble arises, they chase past debts, as they did with the Xiao Family. Not a single bank would offer loans during tough times—capital’s world is this brutal.
Nonetheless, this is good news for the Xiao Family and even better for Lin Tian. He holds a substantial stake in Tianxue Jewelry. With the Bai family’s channels, Tianxue Jewelry can expand throughout Jinghua City, and with top-tier jade resources, profits would be tremendous.
Knowing this good news, Lin Tian had a refreshing sleep that night. The next day he woke up early to start his daily practice.
After breakfast, Lin Tian was planning to go out to see how Miss was faring with those storefronts. As he reached the entrance of Yunxiang Inn, he spotted a familiar face approaching from afar.
Upon seeing this familiar face, Lin Tian believed Mr. Yun’s words from yesterday were true; the Yun Family had really come.
"Brother Jianxun, you came to the Yun Family first thing in the morning. Might you be visiting Mr. Yun?" Lin Tian greeted, recognizing this agile young man vividly.
Ning Jianxun approached Lin Tian, wasting no time and said directly, "No need for pleasantries. With Brother Lin’s intelligence, you might have guessed my intentions already. I’m not here for the old man but for you."
"Is it about Blue Snake Grass?" For this straightforward man, Lin Tian didn’t beat around the bush and asked directly.
Ning Jianxun nodded and said, "That’s right. Brother Lin’s medical skills are remarkable; I’m here to invite Brother Lin to the Ning Family."
Lin Tian initially thought to say, regarding Blue Snake Grass, I’ve only read about it in medical books, and I have no idea how to find it.
But for some reason, words held at his lips, and instead, he nodded and agreed to go with Ning Jianxun. At that moment, Lin Tian only knew the image of Ning Luoxi flashed across his mind.
Lin Tian asked An Xiaoru to inform Yun Xiaotian of his departure from the Yun Family without knowing when he’d return, then left with Ning Jianxun.
Before visiting the Ning Family, Lin Tian imagined its vastness and grandeur, but arriving there, he found it more understated than he had envisioned.
Before him was a vermilion lacquered door, flanked on either side by stone lions. Such configurations in ancient times marked prominent families, either wealthy merchants or high officials, maybe even prince mansions. Yet, this residence sat amidst tranquil alleys.
In Jinghua City, there are many such old alleys, with buildings preserving appearances from a century or centuries ago. Outside these alleys is a bustling city, but within them, time seems to linger a hundred years past.
Lin Tian felt even the air breathed was centuries-old, invoking a surreal sense of traversing time.
