CHAPTER 1067: CHAPTER 1064: MARTIAL ARTS ARENA
"I can’t fight alone, anyone want to spar with me?" Ning Luoxi asked, looking at the few people in the living room.
Lin Tian pointed at Ning Jianxun and said, "Mr. Ning, why don’t you practice with her? I think your skills are pretty good."
Ning Luoxi also glanced at Ning Jianxun, whose expression changed, and then he pretended to be nonchalant as he said, "Well, I got a bit injured fighting with you yesterday, I can’t really get on the field for now."
Damn, you’re terrible at lying. If you’re afraid of fighting with Ning Luoxi, just admit it. Why fake an injury? You’re jumping around like nothing’s wrong, does that look injured? I despise you for that, thought Lin Tian helplessly.
Ning Weiguo was also quite frustrated, not because his daughter wasn’t skilled, but because she was too skilled, making young men afraid to approach her. Was she preparing to live a lonely life?
"Hey, forget it, I’ll go then, it’s not the first time anyway," Lin Tian said helplessly.
After he finished speaking, he noticed everyone was looking at him strangely. Lin Tian felt awkward and thought, damn it, I’ve misspoken again. What does ’not the first time’ mean? Is it like I’ve sparred with Ning Luoxi many times before? Doesn’t that cause misunderstandings?
Even with a face as thick as a wall, being stared at by Ning Weiguo, Fang Ming and the others made Lin Tian blush. He coughed twice and deliberately said seriously, "Cough cough, let’s not waste time, let’s start quickly."
Speaking earnestly, he turned and walked out. Just a few seconds after stepping out, Lin Tian came back and shamelessly asked, "Well, where are we going to fight?"
Ning Jianxun held back a laugh and said, "Follow me, we’ll go to the Martial Arts Arena."
Lin Tian, Ning Weiguo and the others followed Ning Jianxun out and arrived at a large open space in the backyard. It was spacious because there were no buildings, just a grassy area. Other than the ancient trees surrounding the grass with seemingly long lifespans, it was an unobstructed open space.
In a place as land-scarce as Jinghua City, leaving this plot of land undeveloped and uncultivated in the house is quite a waste.
Seemingly noticing Lin Tian’s puzzlement, Ning Jianxun spoke up to explain, "This old house once had a prince living here. Back in the Qing Dynasty, the land was conquered on horseback. The Eight Banners children, whether ordinary people or princes or the royal family, were all very martial, especially in horseback riding and archery."
"And this open space was the prince’s archery range. There used to be several targets over there, but since we don’t do that anymore, the targets have been dismantled and it was turned into the Martial Arts Arena," Ning Jianxun explained.
"Turned into a Martial Arts Arena? But all I see is just a grass field, where are the signs of construction?" Lin Tian asked, perplexed.
Ning Jianxun smiled but said nothing, taking out his phone and pressing a few buttons. Suddenly, a strange clanking sound came from the grass, and then something seemed to be rising from the ground.
These things rose higher and higher, eventually stopping when they reached the height of a three-story building.
"Is that a net?" Lin Tian asked in amazement.
Indeed, what rose from the grass were four huge nets, enclosing a grassy area with only one entrance in a corner.
"Brother Lin, this isn’t an ordinary net. It’s woven from composite materials, even I can’t tear it, and those supporting pillars are made of tough alloy, as resilient as aerospace materials. There are other interesting features that you’ll discover later," Ning Jianxun said with a smile.
Even Ning Jianxun can’t tear it? As an Ancient Martial Artist, if he can’t break it, this means it’s durable enough to salvage a sunken ship, Lin Tian thought in amazement.
"Why did you use nets to build the Martial Arts Arena? It looks rather odd. Aren’t Martial Arts Arenas supposed to be grand with towering platforms?" Lin Tian asked out of curiosity.
"Those are all flash without substance, just for show. Functionality is what matters. Why bother with flashy decoration? A Martial Arts Arena isn’t a dance stage, it’s not meant for entertaining others with performances," Ning Jianxun declared proudly.
"Oh, hearing you say that, I’m intrigued," Lin Tian laughed.
"Then Brother Lin, please," Ning Jianxun gestured invitingly, then leaned in and whispered to Lin Tian, "Brother Lin, be careful, my cousin can get a bit wild in a fight."
Lin Tian looked at him in surprise and asked curiously, "Mr. Ning, don’t you know about me and Luoxi..."
"What’s up with you and my cousin?" Ning Jianxun asked, his curiosity piqued.
How did I not realize that this cool guy who gets into fights at the drop of a hat is so gossipy too, Lin Tian thought, seeing the sparkle of gossip in Ning Jianxun’s eyes, feeling utterly speechless.
Looks like this cousin of Luoxi’s still doesn’t know about my sparring with Ning Luoxi, otherwise he wouldn’t have warned me to be careful, Lin Tian concluded.
Thinking of this, Lin Tian patted him on the shoulder and said, "Mr. Ning, don’t worry, you’ll see soon enough how I handle her."
"What are you two mumbling about, are we fighting or not?" came Ning Luoxi’s impatient voice. Lin Tian and Ning Luoxi turned to look, and the little girl was already inside the Martial Arts Arena; she’s got initiative and a warrior’s spirit.
"Take care, Brother Lin," Ning Jianxun said, cupping his fist at Lin Tian, then retreated to a distance, standing with Ning Weiguo and the others.
Lin Tian shook his head and smiled. You should worry about your cousin, just hope your Ning Family won’t be heartbroken later.
Lin Tian leisurely walked toward the Martial Arts Arena, entering through the netted walls. Upon seeing Lin Tian enter, Ning Luoxi did something that made Lin Tian’s jaw drop.
She actually bent over and tore her pants, turning a perfectly good pair of long pants into short hotpants in two or three strokes. Her long, white, slender, and athletic legs dazzled Lin Tian.
What widened Lin Tian’s eyes even more was that Ning Luoxi pulled up a corner of her shirt, tied a knot, revealing her half-exposed waist, perfect skin, not an ounce of excess flesh, much more attractive than those celebrities flaunting their abs.
With this outfit, her figure’s curves were accentuated, leaving Lin Tian swallowing hard. Damn it, we haven’t even started fighting, and you’re using beauty to distract me? Don’t you know how easily tempted I am? Be careful, I might turn into a wolf.
Meanwhile, the Ning Family members watching from afar were sweating profusely, thinking, girl, around young men, could you show a bit more restraint?
Of course, Ning Luoxi couldn’t hear their thoughts. What she did wasn’t some beauty trap, nor did it have anything to do with modesty. It was simply for more convenient combat. Facing Lin Tian, Ning Luoxi had to be on full alert.
"Come on, give it your all," Lin Tian beckoned, speaking straightforwardly to Ning Luoxi.
Of course, Ning Jianxun overheard it. He knew Lin Tian was formidable, but since he hadn’t experienced it directly, he still felt apprehensive. When it came to his cousin, Ning Jianxun was terrified, having been beaten into fear.
"I hope my cousin goes easy on you," Ning Jianxun said.
